Meet the Herd

Meet the Elephants of Patong Hill Tribe Elephant Village

Each elephant has a story. From past lives in entertainment shows and trekking camps, they now live in the hills above Patong with our local keeper team. Observe them respectfully, hear their stories, and learn what a calm day looks like when elephants are no longer expected to perform.

About the herd

Five Elephants. Five Personalities.

Our elephants are not props. They have moods, friendships, and preferences shaped by the lives they had before they came to live here. On a visit, the keeper team introduces each elephant individually — including what they like, what makes them uneasy, and how to give them space. Close contact is never guaranteed; the day belongs to the elephants first.

Get to Know Them

A quick introduction to the elephants you may meet on a keeper-led visit.

Aussie — playful and curious elephant at Patong Hill Tribe Elephant Village

Aussie

Born 2019

Aussie is playful and curious — always chasing after friends in the herd. From a past life in entertainment, she now spends her days in the forest with food, friends, and plenty of room to roam.

Mali — gentle elephant resting in the Patong forest

Mali

Born 2014

Mali has a gentle heart and a big appetite. From a past life in trekking tours, she now prefers slow afternoons with the younger elephants, resting under the shade of the Patong forest.

Mon Caan — shy young elephant at Patong Hill Tribe Elephant Village

Mon Caan

Born 2020

Mon Caan is the quiet one. He prefers his own space and is still learning to trust new people. Sugarcane treats and the patient keeper team have helped him settle in.

Tad Daow — calm independent elephant in Patong

Tad Daow

Born 2014

Tad Daow is calm and independent. After years working in tourism, she now enjoys quiet mornings away from crowds — a reminder that elephants too need space and rest.

Chan Horm — sociable elephant who loves sugarcane and mud

Chan Horm

Born 2014

Chan Horm is the social one of the herd. She loves sugarcane and a good roll in the mud — but please don’t bring dogs nearby. Loud noises from her past in shows still make her uneasy.

Our care commitment.

Activities depend on each elephant’s mood and the keeper team’s guidance on the day. Close contact, feeding, or photo opportunities are not guaranteed. Our priority is elephant comfort and visitor safety — followed by honest education.
